Join Us: January 22nd, 2017

The CCBCF is excited to announce the second annual Skate The Lake event will go on January 22, 2017. We are looking forward to building on our very successful event last year which enabled the CCBCF to make a significant contribution to researchers fighting to find a cure for kid’s brain cancer. We’ve been to the laboratory and seen first-hand the brilliant work being done to beat this deadly disease. That’s the good news — the bad news is the scientists remain poorly funded by national health agencies and the pharmaceutical industry.

That why we’ll keep skating, and on Jan. 22, Skate the Lake returns to McKenzie Lake for another day of laughs and friendly competition, all in the name of beating kid’s brain cancer.

Last year’s Skate The Lake attracted about 400 participants, and the smiles spoke loudly about that inaugural event’s success. We learned a lot too, and for 2017, Skate The Lake will be even better, with even more activities and fun.

Kids lapping the lake can visit four stations to play games and have their card stamped, on their way to collecting a great prize. One rink will feature a Shoot-To-Win contest with a sweet cash prize for the best puck sniper. And of course there will be a return of the popular pond hockey rink, plus ringette and a sledge hockey game.

Skate The Lake 2017 will feature music, food and volunteers making s’mores by the bonfire, while last year’s special guests Deke and Captain Jack Sparrow will be back, along with furry Flames’ favourite Harvey the Hound!  The Okotoks Oilers Junior A hockey club and NHL alumni will also be there, and our good buddy Matt O’Neill will entertain us as emcee.

All participants will be given with a cool looking CCBCF neck tube to help keep them warm. All of this for just $25 per person! But you can choose to do even more.

Similar to events like the Terry Fox Run, Skate-the-Lake is an opportunity to fundraise for CCBCF, through online registration. Our website will guide you in setting up a personal page, which the participant then uses to solicit potential donors through email and social media. In return, CCBCF is offering some great incentives on an individual and team level for those who choose to fundraise. All donations solicited are tax deductible.

No donation is too small and CCBCF is truly appreciative of any support we can receive to help Doctors find a cure for this horrible disease.

Please don’t hesitate to contact info@kidsbrain.ca with any questions you may have.

We look forward to seeing you there!
